Microblading - The Art of Perfectly Shaped Eyebrows

Microblading has become one of the most sought-after beauty treatments for those looking to enhance their eyebrows with a natural, semi-permanent solution. This technique involves using a fine blade to create hair-like strokes in the skin, mimicking the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs. The result of microblading is a fuller, more defined brow that can last anywhere from 1 to 2 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

Who will benefit from Microblading brows?

One of the main appeals of microblading is its ability to create realistic, fine strokes that blend seamlessly with your natural brow hairs. Microblading treatment is ideal for people with sparse or over-plucked eyebrows, as it can fill in gaps and add definition. Microblading procedure typically takes about 2-3 hours. Afterward, there’s a short healing period, and clients are advised to follow aftercare instructions to ensure the best results.

Although microblading is known for its natural look, it may not be the best option for everyone. Those with oily skin or large pores might not see the same long-lasting results as those with normal to dry skin. In such cases, instead of microblading I recommend powder brows—another form of semi-permanent makeup. Unlike microblading, powder brows use a shading technique to create a soft, filled-in look that is more resistant to oils and lasts longer. You can find out more about Powder Brows here.

Whether you opt for microblading or powder brows depends on your personal preferences and skin type, but both techniques offer a convenient way to achieve beautifully shaped, low-maintenance eyebrows.

Benefits of Microblading

  • Natural Appearance: Microblading replicates the look of real hair, making it ideal for individuals with sparse or uneven eyebrows.
  • Time-Saving: No more daily eyebrow makeup routines! Microblading ensures your brows stay flawless every day.
  • Long-Lasting Results: While not permanent, the results of microblading can last up to 2 years with proper care.

How to prepare for Microblading

  • Avoid Certain Products: Refrain from using retinol, chemical exfoliants, or strong skincare treatments around your eyebrows for at least a week before microblading treatment.
  • No Alcohol or Caffeine: Avoid consuming these 24 hours before your microblading appointment as they can increase bleeding.
  • Consult Your Artist: Share any skin conditions, medications, or allergies during the consultation to ensure the microblading treatment is safe for you.

Is the Microblading procedure painful?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but most clients report minimal discomfort during the microblading procedure. Due to recent legislation changes I am not allowed to use numbing creams. If you want to use numbing cream, you can purchase your own OTC product – i.e. EMLA Cream.

Aftercare for Microblading

  • Avoid Moisture: Keep your brows dry for at least 7-10 days to ensure proper healing.
  • No Picking: Allow scabs to fall off naturally to avoid pigment loss.
  • Avoid Sun and Sweat: Protect your brows from direct sunlight and avoid intense workouts for a week.
  • Proper skincare: Do not apply retinol and chemical peels on treated area as they can impact the color of brows.

Top-up Microblading appointments

A touch-up session is typically required 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment to perfect the shape and fill in any faded areas. Regular top-ups every 12-24 months help maintain the results.
