Permanent makeup (PMU) for eyebrows is a game-changer for those looking to enhance their natural beauty with long-lasting results. Whether you struggle with sparse brows, spend too much time filling them in, or want a more defined shape, permanent make-up offers a solution that saves time and boosts confidence. Permanent make-up involves implanting pigment into the skin to create fuller, defined, and natural-looking eyebrows. Unlike traditional tattooing, permanent make-up techniques fade over time, allowing for shape adjustments as beauty trends evolve. With various techniques like microblading and powder brows, you can achieve a soft, natural, or bold makeup look tailored to your preference.
Permanent make-up for eyebrows is semi-permanent, typically lasting 12 to 24 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin types may experience faster fading, while dry skin holds pigment longer. The older your skin gets the less treatments you will need. As we age, skin regeneration slows down, so pigment lasts longer in the skin. A touch-up session 4-6 weeks after the initial permanent make-up treatment is recommended to perfect the shape and color.
While permanent make-up is generally safe when performed by a trained professional, there are some risks to consider.
Infection – There is a risk of bacterial or viral infections that’s why following strict aftercare recommendations is extremally important. As a Permanent Make-up Artist I always make sure that treatments are performed on the highest hygienic level using sterile and disposable blades, needles and tools.
Allergic Reactions – Some individuals may be sensitive to pigments. A patch testis required at least 24 hours before treatment.
Scarring or Keloids – Those prone to keloid scarring may experience raised scars in the treated area.
Phototoxic Reactions – These are side effects which can occur when pigment implanted in your skin has exposure to UV light. It’s very important to avoid sun exposure during the firs 2 weeks after the treatment and wear SPF 30 everyday to minimalise the impact of UV on the pigment.
Immediately after the procedure the brow area can be red, a bit tender and swollen. Your eyebrows will look approximately 50% darker and will be 10-15% bolder in width, compering to healed result. Over the first 7-14 days, the color will soften, and some scabbing or flaking may occur. It’s essential to avoid picking to ensure proper pigment retention. Full healing takes usually around 4 weeks, revealing the final color and shape. After 4-6 weeks we would be able to assess your eyebrows and carry on a touch-up session. The touch-up session is required to fill in any areas where pigment didn’t retain fully, adjust the shape or colour 9if needed) and ensure long-lasting, even results. Skipping this session may lead to uneven fading and less durable results.
